Loaded up the 650 pounds of HEET and set off for Rainy Pass.
The weather is good and we have a 25 knot tailwind going out...just
like this morning! The GPS indicated our GS was 140 kts at times.
Got there in good time and had an incident with the gear on
landing...I bent it. Came in too slow for the weight and dropped in
very solidly! Butch, the resident mechanic help me patch it together
so I could fly back to Anchorage. Off-loaded the HEET and took off
for PANC. This time the GS is 102 most of the time! It was a looong
trip back. Landed on RWY 32 without incident. Took plane straight
away to the TCAA maintenance facility! I'm sure the Boss will give me
what for over this!
