Hiya Snowboss,
Herewith two (for the price of one) PIREPS for the assigned flights:
Straw - 7a:
PAMC - Ophir and return to McGrath:
Total flight time: 18 minutes
Weather surprisingly nkind - light cloud only, viz ~ 50 miles
Straw - 8a
PAMC - Iditarod Township and return
Total flight time: 45 minutes
Weathyer holding fair, but that damned lake has got to go! Touched down on the Oxbow with the whole length of it to stop in (I thought) but the bitcraft just slid the length of the available space and nearly wioped out the tent area (shades of last year's fiasco). Managed to avoid killing all the Iditarod helpers (but not by much) and finally came to rest with the float wheels nudging the earth rise. Not too many happy faces greeted me when I managed to prise my white knuckles off the control column.
Off loaded the 50 cans of HEET by myself (can't think why no-one wanted to help me), then made a spectacularly near miss take -off . Set it down at PAMC light as a feather-how? Can't even guess! Going for lunch now - out of a bottle of Crown!
