Photo: Unalakleet airport's wind sock now. Wind from 80 degrees at 19 knots. That's pretty calm wind for this airport and a business as usual cross wind for runway 14.
Hey Boss,I left McGrath at 10am this morning, took two volunteers with me, they were on their way to Kaltag and needed a lift, took off from rwy 25 and made a wide climbing circle around McGrath, until establishing on a direct course to Kaltag, continued to climb out until 6500ft to be on the safe side when overflying the mountains, although the weather was clear the ride was bumpy, all the way and the two volunteers who at first were very excited, remained quiet with an increasing grey color on their faces, showed them the plastic bags, and said they'd have to clean up any mess, fortunately by then it was time to land.At Kaltag while the plane was loaded I went inside for a cup of coffee, checked the weather in my route and found it was still clear, no worries on this side, at 11am I was airborne heading to Anvik, this time the air was so calm I could fly the plane hands off, setlled to cruise speed at 4500ft and just watched the river flow below the plane, followed the Yukon all the way down to Anvik, where I delivered 8 bales of straw, this time I just in the plane and as soon as the last bale was out I closed the doors and and took off again this time headed to Unalakleet, this time I had a pretty rough ride with the wind blowing in gusts at times anyway made it safe to UNK where I landed on rwy 8.
It took me 2 hours to complete this flight.
And now, good night everyone, I'm going to bed earlier tonight
