Best day for flying yet. Bad omen for the race, though, I fear we will have dreadful weather when it starts. Anyway, picked up 10 Bales at KAL and delivered to Grayling. Stopped briefly at Eagle Island on my return to Kaltag. Delivered some new wader boots to the Old Lady so she can deal with the mass of frozen mud that is left from high Yukon river conditions. Also left her a case of Jack Daniels and fifty pounds Remark 7: of great buffalo steaks so I'm sure she will be in a good mood when our pilots make their stops there. Standing by for orders in Kaltag at the restaurant. Have a kerosene heater for the Porter so I'll be sleeping there if I'm not at the restaurant.
