It was quite a big change from the cockpit of the B744 to the C208 and also the height. But nevertheless I departed Anchorage and headed for Rainy Pass, by setting a direct GPS course. As I had Rainy Pass visible (yes, the weather was really good on this flight) I got several CTD's. But I didn't give up and I finally made it to the runway. It was a kind of zigzag course avoiding those trees on this
almost straight in approach, and this was also the reason for the relative hard landing, but the aircraft is ok. After unloading the straw bales and having something to drink I headed back to Anchorage. I first set course to PANC directly, but the forecast says something about RWY 14 still in use, so I set the GPS to
YOHNN INTC for a straight in ILS approach to the runway. But then I recalled the next flights and that I have to use the Bell 412 and I was short time thinking about where I left it last year: Lake Hood Strip, so I headed to that place ;-)
I arrived there without any problems and then I saw the Bell 412 still standing where I left it last year.
Will do Straw-3 tomorrow after my two jump-seat ridings to Nassau and back from Buenos Aires.
Flying time: 90 minutes
