Flight No. "SLED-2"...Anchorage (PANC) to Atlin, BC, Canada (CYSQ), return to PANC:
You will be picking up 35 new racing sleds in Atlin, BC. Musher Hans Gatt, heads up a sled manufactoring company in Atlin. Hans will be racing the 1,000-mile Yukon Quest race at the first of February, then will race the Iditarod. These sled are made of aluminum, strong and very costly. There are 20 Taildragger models for 700-pounds and 15 regular long distance sleds for 450-pounds. Also 50-pounds of misc. hardware. Your total load is 1,200 pounds. These sleds are unassembled so they fit in smaller aircraft. Hans hopes to sell some of these sleds, and employee Carolyn Moore, will return with you. This flight is for a C208, Beech-18, Navajo & Pilatus PC-12. Atlin Airport has a lighted, 3,900 foot gravel based rwy. Fuel is available. I recommend to land on rwy 36 and depart on rwy 18. I also recommend you fly from Anchorage to Cordova and down the coast to Yakataga and Yakutat, then turn inland and direct to Haines, and then a short flight to Atlin. All these have NDB's, so you can do a little ADF navigation. The trip is around 515 miles one-way using this plan.
