It was dark..too dark for 9am but good enough for me to get an early start on the day. Snowboss and most of the other are already back at ANC. I'm still pending two delivery flights so I have to get up in the morning to use every minute of usable daylight. I knew by the time we get to UNK the sun will be rising. Plus both McG and UNK have good landing lights if I need to go back. Im taking some calculated risk here but I trust the PT6 in my Van.
Connie is starting to do a little more behind the scenes investigation. Taking to the linemen , the loaders, etc. She managed to get a few smiles out of them as she took pictures of everything. I guess it's best to shoot more than you need than to wish you had some later.
She climbed onboards as I buttoned up the bird. Fired it up and woken up the few that were still asleep at this hour. Such is the life on Alaskan airports. Oh well
The flight was quiet..She asked me about my life in TCA and TCAA and how a latino came to fly all the way up north to Alaska instead of flying around in the carribean islands. I told her "the secret" but she didn't get I think. She needs more time exposed to Alaska to get it.
Approach and landing at UNK was a little hard. Wind was 22 knots at 060..I was almost flying sideways we we landed and I still had to use full controls and braks to keep the wheels on the runway. I hope the sun comming up slows down the winds by the time we have to get Going to Elim, our next straw delivery assignment.
Time: 1 hour, 10 minutes.
