Goodmorning.
Rui, it worked !
Delivered 50 bales of straw to Rainy Pass checkpoint.
Today’s sunrise wasn’t really one at all. Left ANC around 9 am but
it was hazy all the way up to McGrath cabin. On descent visiblity cleared
and landed on the lake. No screen freezes this time. But something else did occur:
at the lodge set parking brake and shut down the engines. Opened the cargo doors and proceeded to offload the straw. Where did the lodge go? I looked out the door and saw the aircraft sliding down on the ice. Ran to the cockpit to check the brake: it was set all right.
No matter what i tried I could not stop the A/C sliding away. I even fired up the engines. No way did she stop!
So, I went back to the default aircraft and reloaded the situation. That helped. The aircraft remained steady in front of the lodge.
Offloaded the straw, had breakfast with coffe and proceeded to return to Anchorage.
Flew full screen this time and saw no screen freezes! But the aircraft was slow, I could not get more speed than 115 knots. Been busy all way back adjusting throttle, mixture and prop rpm. Nothing helped. We had taken off from rwy 14 and expecting rwy 14 for landing I flew via BGQ VOR. But tower directed us to rwy 32. Lined up the aircraft for final approach and grabbeb hold of the gear lever. What ?? Still down??? Some pilot you are mate! Had to think of José Gonzales….
Enjoy your Sunday folks. I’m on a day off tomorrow.
